Register To Vote Here the time is now!
As we come freshly off Biden’s selection of a VP pick Senator Kamala Harris, I’m extremely excited of his selection for my own selfish reason. Being an African American woman and a proud graduate of THE Howard University all of which I share with our newly VP pick Senator Kamala Harris this selection resonates with me.
As our nation, derails from an uncontrolled pandemic, a plead to acknowledge the systematic injustice of black people, a hurling degrading attack on the VP pick, a strategic move to defund the United States Postal Service, and an openly corrupt commander of chief, I‘m greatly concerned for our country and it’s democracy.

Admittedly, I know there is no silver bullet to remedy the problem but the more negative things I hear the more I feel a call to action!
For instance, the latest postal service scandal have urge me to want to do more. With only 77 days remaining to the presidential election, I wanted to use this platform to encourage everyone to get out and vote!

Election | Registration Deadline | Election Day |
General | October 19, 2020 | November 3, 2020 |
- Mail In Ballots/ Vote by mail
Please let this be your last options. I get it, we are in a pandemic but vote early, take your mask, and hand sanitizer and go out to vote!
Nonetheless if you must, request a mail in(absentee) ballot here https://dcboe.org/Data-Resources-Forms/Forms-and-Resources/AbsenteeBallotRequestForm.aspx
Each state is different but here is a site that will outline your options for mail in ballots.
In summary, most states allow you to register to vote by mail. You should request your ballot as far in advance of the election as possible. The deadline to request a ballot by mail is (received by) Tuesday, October 27, 2020. However, with the already seen delays in the postal system from its financial cuts you don’t want to risk not having your ballot counted.
Get Involved Now!
Many of our seniors are the first who typically volunteer at the polling sites. Unfortunately, this year has limit their involvement due to the public health emergency. Particularly, seniors are at high risk for contracting the virus and succumbing to its affects so its time for the younger generation to step up and do our part in this election.
How are you getting involved to be the change you want to see?
