Spain in a Nutshell
A few weeks ago my daughter and I traveled to Spain for a couple weeks. A well-deserved trip for her and a well needed vacation for me. While I intentionally wanted to keep a care free schedule I found it hard not to be engulfed by all the beauty Spain had to offer and wanting to explore more.
Most times when traveling I like to keep a pretty structured day, from activities of sightseeing and dining, or partying but this go round I wanted to have a more relaxed approach on this trip. Going with the flow and exploring and we did just that. We put down our cellular devices and really enjoyed what Barcelona, Ibiza, and Formentera had to offer
Spain was incredible, the food was great, the beaches were awesome, and the people were kind. This welcomed energy really set the tone for such an amazing trip. Many of the locals spoke Catalan, a similar dialect to Spanish but not quite. So if you think you’re limited memory of multiple Spanish course will carry you in conversation think again. But no worries, many locals also speak English.
Spain surprisingly was quite expensive. So if you are looking to vacation in Spain, selecting the right lodging can be very helpful. Try not to spend your money on a room you will only sleep in. Finding a hotel or lodging that offer a sort of breakfast accommodations to stretch your dollar can also be helpful.
Look at all those discounted hotel sights like hotels.com, booking.com to catch a good deal.
We experienced Spain first through Barcelona. Barcelona’s history and culture were intriguing.
Some must see historical attractions to check out:
- La Sagrada Familia- Obviously!
- Guell Park
- Beaches- there are so many close to each other( Somorrostro, Bogatell)
But don’t just go to all the Pinterest sights, wander the town and pop into the local restaurants and talk to the locals. Try a new dish and support their businesses.
Other things we found fun in Spain:
- Discovering Tapas and Wine: Tapas and Wine tour
- Shopping
The tail end of our trip we spent in Ibiza! OMG Ibiza was just lovely, we soaked up so much sun and sea it was unreal.
Ibiza is known for its partying but we did none of that, we relaxed and lounged, and it was just what the doctor ordered. We ate well and drank plenty. We put our devices down and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery.
We also spent a day on the island Formentera. I would strongly encourage grabbing a ferry to visit Formentera. The food was incredible and the sights were stunning.
I look forward to going back to Spain to visit Madrid; it is certainly a place I would return to explore more.
Until we chat again gang, peace!
