Is 2020 Cancelled? Assessing your New Years Resolution and personal goals for 2020.
As August makes a speedy appearance it leaves us all in awe of the events of 2020. Being home for at least six months of the year ( and counting) its natural to question your productivity with the major limitation of COVID19.
But we cant allow a whole pandemic to shift our personal new years resolutions or personal/professional goals.
I figure the third quarter is a good time to ask yourself; what have I done with all this flexibility? Yes you heard meā¦ the flexibility and extra time. Working from home affords you quite a bit of flexibility. If you use your extra time from commuting alone will afford you a few extra hours in the day to work on your goals.
It is easy for us to look at all the negative things that have come out of this pandemic but why not find some good in it.
A couple weeks ago, I pulled out my vision board to assess where I was in my goals. Generally, vision boards are very personal and private thoughts, goals, and aspirations that you donāt necessarily want to share with others in fear you wonāt met them. But in the interest of this post Iāll share a sneak peak of my vision board.
As a disclaimer, Iām not going to share the meaning of everything on my board. That’s between me and GOD!
However, I plan to share some of my goals outlined on my vision board . Thereās literally only two things on my board that I havenāt seen an initiative or progress toward. Mainly because I havent prioritized it.
New Year’s Resolutions/ Vision Board Check in
So here goes. Here are a few themes on my board that are related to the following:
Health
There are a number of things that I have made an extra effort to pursue. Most important has certainly been to focus a little more on health. I have increased the intensity of my workouts, the duration, and techniques. Currently I jog 2-3 times a week and/or do some Youtube workouts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MoGxae-zyo. Chloe Ting is the shit! Tap in and get snatched!
Iām also learning to play tennis which have been keeping me pretty active. I am not a fan of working out but Iāve been making a conscience effort to do more and being more consistent in an effort to maintain a healthy immunity.
Home
I have lived in my condo for over 15 years and I love it. In Ward 5, you have the best proximity to all the wonderful things the DMV have to offer. In the past I have worked with two interior designers and this year I have decided to update my space in a major way. I found the perfect interior designer that I am stoked to work with. I have literally stalked her for some time and finally did my first consultation with her. Work will began early 2021! Yes theyāre that busy but this is on my 2020 vision board. Pray all is well because I promise you itās not cheap. And I need to learn to stay out the stores to save a little more.
Traveling
The coronavirus have limited the places I can actually travel but despite this, I have attempted to maintain some travel. This year I was really excited about visiting Italy which was postponed but I have been able to do a little traveling. See blog post https://www.mytruthlieshere.com/tulum-mexico-traveling-safely-during-a-pandemic/ and social media for some pictures.
Secret Blog
This year I started www.mytruthlieshere.com and well itās a labor of love . Itās a commitment and I love the accountability it forces me to display.
Stay on Course with your New Years Resolution.
There is quite a bit more on the board thatās a little too personal to share on this platform but I am proud to say that at least three other items on the board has shown pleasant progress in the last few months as outlined on my vision board.
So where are you on your new years resolution? Have you made any progress on your goals?
Donāt worry if you have not achieved all your goals this year, just pull out that vision board or your New Years resolution list and see what you can work on this week.
An Easy Way To Crush Your Goals!
My biggest tip would be to use a planner. Track your goals on a monthly basis. Write down what you want to accomplish. Seeing it on paper helps to hold you accountable to acting on it.
Seriously taking things day by day is the game. Just get started and try to find the motivation to stay on course. If you need to start on your goals you created at the beginning of the year or if you need to create new goals just start it! Take sometime to refocus on what you want to accomplish this year.
I can promise you will feel a sense of pride by the end of the week and even more accomplished in December.
Good Luck Gang!
